MDV group continues to expand

MDV Group, one of Europe’s leading paper and plastic film coating companies, supplements its already broad range of services by acquiring another specialist coating company. Through this takeover of Reisewitz GmbH, located in Penig (Saxony), MDV has enhanced its ability to coat diverse substrates, and is now able to share the resulting synergies especially with its customers.

MDV Papier- und Kunststoffveredelung Gmbh proudly looks back on a tradition of over 200 years. Reisewitz GmbH can trace its origins back to 1537. As the oldest paper manufacturer in Germany, it once supplied the country with this important raw material. Since then, it has established itself as a printer and coater of plastic films. The company’s most prominent project is the refined membrane shell of the Allianz Arena in Munich. At 64,000 square metres and with 2,874 individual air enclosed panels, providing resistance to extreme variations in temperature, Reisewitz has demonstrated maximum performance with the refinement of the only 0.2 mm thick film. Reisewitz’s specialisation is so advanced that it is able to print high value films used in buildings’ outer shells in such a way, that light transmission can be modulated through pneumatic changes. A good example of this was demonstrated in the construction of the Duales System Deutschland GmbH (“Grüner Punkt”) pavilion at the EXPO 2000 held in Hanover. Films from Reisewitz are not only used in numerous prestige buildings in Europe but also as decorative fronts for furniture as well as on floor, wall and ceiling panels. Additionally, technical films in accordance with customer specifications and for project specific applications are also produced by the experienced team at Reisewitz. “The beauty of it is that nearly all members of the experienced team have remained on board, and that we can continue to produce at full steam ahead”, Holger Wolters, the new director of Reisewitz GmbH, happily reports. He adds that with this step of uniting with the MDV Group, an important milestone has been achieved for securing the tradition-rich coating company’s future.
